Try driving through Nueve de Pebrero route to makati avenue! Wont take you fast but it is more visually satisfying than taking the stretch of edsa. I literaly slow down seeing as i pass by the market- talipapa scene of nueve de pebrero and inthe mandaluyong circle where the historical markers are located. The view of the makati city hall on horizon as you leave mandaluyong to makati is to behold as if the building is imposing a proud stance across the pasig river. Upon crossing the bridge the landscape dramatically changes and it tells you that you are now in makati territory, your attention will be captured by the bars and the restaurants along makati avenue. The scene transform in seconds to become more business like as u cross Buendia avenue with tall corporate buildings, becoming more green with trees and the pedestrian become filled with corporate dressed people.
This is what makes metro Manila more fun!
